I’m kind of an impulse buyer. I went to the store about an hour ago to pick up some salad stuff. I ended up getting a bottle of Baco’s in addition to the usual stuff: Lettuce, dressing, croutons.

I had read about Baco’s on reddit, and everyone seemed to love them. Reading the ingredient list, I didn’t see any meat additions so i figured, “wtf, let’s give these a shot…” boy was that a mistake.
I sprinkled some Baco’s on an otherwise delicious salad and dug in expecting to be tasting savory bacon (which I haven’t eaten in 7 months.. vegetarian woohoo!). What I actually tasted seemed like small burnt rubber pellets. The taste was only vaguely similar to savory bacon, and I was disappointed. Picking the small little shit balls out of the salad was out of the question because i toss salads well. I just pressed forward and ate the whole salad. Nasty Baco’s and all.
The only similarities I could find between Baco’s and actual bacon bits were:
- General color similarity.
- Post mastication burps taste pretty close.
Other than those two things, they might as well have printed, “Shit Sprinkles” on the bottle. This was the end result of the experiment:

This really hasn’t been too hard.. then again it’s too early to tell, i’m just wrapping up day three. One of the major benefits I’m starting to see is that I am forced to make a conscious decision about what I eat, once I start thinking about it, I make better choices.
Todays Eats:
Breakfast: A bowl of cinnamon toast crunch with dairy milk (i haven’t been to the store yet to get some soy milk), and coffee with two shots of espresso, a dash of cream and some raw sugar.

Lunch: Small Peanut-butter and jelly sandwich, string cheese, and fresca.
Dinner: Bowl of easy-mac, and water.
I also had some cheez-its later on in the day. Man, this would be REALLY hard to do if I was also giving up all things dairy. I had dairy in every single one of my meals today. That is gong to be tough to cut if the time comes.
I have been meaning to get back on my multi-vitamin, but my morning routine as far as eating goes is usually second nature. I’m going to try hard to remember that tomorrow though. As far as ‘how I feel’ goes, I feel pretty good, but I can’t say that I feel significantly better than when I was eating meat. Are you even supposed to feel better after you stop eating meat? I guess we’ll see.
