I really can’t say that I miss meat all that much. Granted it does make deciding what to order at restaurants a bit more difficult, but not so much that it’s impossible. I have done really well in avoiding all things that contain meat, and cutting down on milk/dairy products. I still need to find some soy milk, and I think that is going to take a trip over to Sunflower Market.
I have only screwed up once this week, and I had a slice of pizza that had a bit of pepperoni and sausage on it. Overall, I would say that this is turning into a big success.
I had a tough time at Dennys tonight. I went with a bunch of friends from work. Since I’m trying to save some money, I thought it would be a good idea to get two, two dollar items, instead of one six dollar item. It was definitely a good idea on the saving money part, but my I guess my menu reading wasn’t quite adequate. My biscuits came out covered in gravy, with shredded sausage on top of the gravy. I ended up scraping off all of the sausage, and most of the gravy and just eating the biscuits. It was still decent (although I am feeling a little sick now).
Cravings for meat haven’t been bad at all. I had the urge for a double whopper with cheese earlier in the week, but I was just hungry at the time, and then it passed. What I have had a huge craving for is peanut butter. It is so amazing on everything. I’m going to pick some up that doesn’t have trans-fat in it when I get the soy milk.
Here is some meatless deliciousness that I made a few days ago. I called it ‘eggs in a basket with peanut butter and syrup’ It was seriously amazing:

Ingredients List:
- Small bit of butter for the pan.
- 2 pieces of wheat bread.
- 2 Eggs
- Peanut butter for spread.
- As much syrup as you would like.
- A Fry Pan
- About 10 minutes.
Cooking Instructions:
- Cut a 3″(ish) hole in each piece of bread, with a knife.
- Heat butter in pan. Coat evenly.
- Add bread to pan.
- Crack 1 egg in each piece of bread.
- Wait for bread to toast on one side, then flip.
- Toast other side of bread, egg should be finishing up about now as well.
- Remove from heat, slather with peanut butter. coat in syrup.
- Eat!
There it is, all done. This meal was SUPER filling, so if you aren’t very hungry consider making this amount for two, or just cooking one for yourself.

It’s tough when you first start out, especially at restaurants. Even salads will occasionally come with unexpected bacon bits on them!
When in doubt just ask. You’ll be surprised how many restaurants DO have veg options.
I’ve been a strict vegetarian for 7 years now, and was on and off since I was about 12. Here are some of the restaurants that are Veg Friendly!
Red Robin (you can substitute any burger with Garden or Boca!
Olive Garden
In-n-Out has a grilled cheese option
Burger King has a Veggie Burger
Any Fast Food Breakfast, just ask for no meat, and you get an egg/cheese sandwich.
Chipotle
Chili’s
Panera Bread
Places I avoid:
Applebee’s (they have some veg options, but they don’t taste good AT ALL!
Hometown Buffet unless you feel like paying 10.95 for bread, and congealed mac and cheese, opt out of this place.
Any kind of BBQ place (although some have decent sides)
Good Luck!
